Fixing Clubs Teaches You What Fitting Misses
In 2014 this address held one workbench, a loft and lie machine, a vise, and a shelf of grip tape. The work was unglamorous: reshafts, regrips, broken ferrules, bent hosels, sets that had been sitting in a hot truck bed for a decade. Golfers brought in clubs that were already theirs and asked whether anything could be done.
Handling several hundred used sets a year turns into a kind of education you cannot get from a launch monitor. You start noticing that the sets arriving in the worst shape are frequently the ones that were professionally fitted two or three years earlier. Someone spent real money getting the specs right, then nothing was ever checked again, and the specs quietly walked away from where they started.
That pattern is why we eventually added fitting bays instead of just more bench capacity. If the shop is going to hand somebody a set of numbers, the shop ought to also own the job of keeping those numbers true.
Independent Means Independent
We hold no exclusivity agreements, no volume commitments, and no manufacturer allocations. There is no head or shaft on our racks that we are obligated to move by quarter's end.

Everything Gets Written Down
Measurements taken on the gauge are recorded and handed to you. If you never come back, you still own the data. That is the point of it.

An appointment can conclude with a recommendation to buy nothing. It happens often enough that we consider it a normal outcome rather than a failure.
Equipment Ages Differently Here
South Central Texas is a year-round golf market, which sounds like a pure advantage until you look at what it does to a set of clubs.
Heat and Sweat
Grips here see more sweat, more sunscreen and more UV than almost anywhere else in the country. Rubber that would give a golfer three seasons in a temperate market is glazed and slippery in eighteen months around San Antonio.
Hard Ground
By late July, fairways over caliche play like pavement. Irons taking thin, firm contact for weeks at a stretch move loft and lie faster than the same irons would on soft turf, and forged heads move fastest of all.
Bermuda and Granite
Thick Bermuda rough and crushed-granite bunker sand punish the wrong bounce and grind combinations. Wedge selection that works in the Midwest often does not survive a summer on a Hill Country course.
Two Bays and a Bench, All Under One Roof
Suite 140 is roughly nineteen hundred square feet. Two hitting bays sit along the north wall, each with a launch monitor, a mat that gets replaced on schedule, and a wall of loaner heads and shafts. The repair bench runs the length of the back, with the loft and lie machine, the frequency analyser, the swingweight scale, and the grip station all within arm's reach of each other.
There is deliberately no retail floor. No display cases, no logo apparel, no glove rack. If you want to browse merchandise, there are excellent shops for that within ten minutes of here. What this space does is measure clubs and change them.

Gauges are verified against reference blocks every quarter. The dates are posted on the bench wall where anyone can read them.
