Questions Answered

Fourteen Things People Ask

Collected from the phone and from the first ten minutes of appointments. If your question is not here, call and ask it.

Do I have to buy clubs from you after a fitting?

No, and a meaningful share of our clients do not. The fitting fee pays for the appointment and the written card. Those specs are yours to take anywhere. We would rather you buy well somewhere else than buy badly here.

How long does an appointment take?

Single-category sessions run sixty to ninety minutes depending on the category. Irons take the longest because there are more heads to gauge. A full bag review is three hours. Bench-only work is a forty-five minute slot or a drop-off.

What should I bring?

Your whole bag, the shoes you play in, and any record of previous builds if you have one. Do not put new grips on beforehand, because the wear pattern on your current grips tells us where your hands sit and how tightly you hold on.

I have never been fitted before. Is that a problem?

It describes most first appointments here. There is no minimum handicap and no expectation that you know the terminology. If we use a term you have not heard, ask, and we will stop and explain it.

Can you work on clubs I did not buy from you?

Yes. Most of the bench queue is equipment bought elsewhere, frequently years ago. The bench does not care where a club came from.

Is the fitting fee credited if I order clubs?

Half of it comes off the build labour on the longer appointments, provided the order lands within ninety days. Component cost is never credited, because that is simply what the part cost us. The rate sheet marks which appointments carry the credit.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Weekday afternoons often have openings within a few days. Saturday mornings are the busiest slot of the week and typically run about ten days out. Bench drop-offs need no appointment at all.

What is the service card everyone mentions?

A one-page record of your build. Delivered loft and lie for every head, shaft model and raw length, grip and tape build-up, swingweight, total mass, and a return-by date for each component. Printed and emailed the same day.

Why are your service intervals shorter than the manufacturer says?

Because of what walks through this door. South Texas heat, sweat and sunscreen finish grips faster than a temperate climate does, and hardpan summer lies move forged lofts faster than average. Our intervals reflect gauge readings on local sets, not a national average.

Do you fit left-handed golfers?

Yes, with the same loaner heads and shaft cart. Left-handed loaner inventory is smaller in some categories, so we occasionally order a specific head in for a follow-up test. That follow-up carries no additional fitting fee.

Can you fit a junior who is still growing?

Yes, and the approach is different. We build with adjustment headroom and we set a shorter recheck interval, because a junior in a growth phase can outgrow a set within a single season. Bring the child, not just their measurements.

What if the clubs do not feel right after I get them?

Come back. Minor adjustments in the first thirty days after pickup carry no charge. Feel is a real datum and it does not always show up in the launch numbers on the day.

Do you sell golf balls, gloves or apparel?

No. There is no retail floor here. We measure clubs and change them, and there are good shops within ten minutes that do the rest well.

Can I supply my own shafts or grips?

Yes, and we will charge labour only. The one exception is components whose origin cannot be verified, since counterfeit shafts are common enough that we inspect anything unfamiliar before agreeing to build with it.
